Ewa Swoboda continued her impressive indoor season this weekend when she stormed to a stunning 60m national record of 6.99s at the Polish Indoor Championships in Torun on Saturday, March 5.
The current World leader in the 60m dash, Swoboda, arrived at the Polish Indoor Championships with 7.00 seconds, which she achieved at the Orlen Cup in Lodz in February.
Swoboda's new national record of 6.99 makes her the first woman to break 7 seconds barrier since Murielle Ahoure from Ivory Coast in 2018. She also became the 9th fastest performer in history. This Saturday, the second place behind Swoboda took Pia Skrzyszowska, who clocked a new lifetime best of 7.12 seconds. Marika Popowicz-Drapała took third with 7.23 seconds.
The 20-year-old Pia Skrzyszowska secured her place on a Polish team for the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships.
