Blessing Okagbare expelled from Tokyo after testing positive for HGH

Nigeria’s sprint star Blessing Okagbare tested positive for HGH and has been expelled from Tokyo Olympics.

The Athletics Integrity Unit notified of her provisional suspension on Saturday morning. 

“The AIU has provisionally suspended Blessing Okagbare of Nigeria, with immediate effect after an out-of-competition sample collected from the sprinter tested positive for Human Growth Hormone, a prohibited substance on the 2021 WADA Prohibited List," the AIU said in a statement.

Okakbare tested positive in an out-of-competition test on July 19.

In Tokyo on Friday, Okakbare won hear heat 6 in 11.05 seconds to qualify for Saturday's semi-finals.

The 32-year-old Okagbare holds one of the fastest 100m times in the world this year of 10.89 and clocked wind-aided 10.63 this year.
