Cooper Teare and Cole Hocker clock 3:50.39 and 3:50.55 respectively to smash NCAA mile record

Oregon runners Cooper Teare and Cole Hocker of Oregon destroyed the NCAA mile record with 3:50.39 and 3:50.55 respectively at the Tyson Indoor Invitational on Friday night in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Both results are also the seventh and eighth fastest marks in world history.

Charlie Hunter, who last month clocked the fourth-fastest time in NCAA history at the Razorback Invitational, finished third in a new PB of 3:53.49. 

The previous NCAA mile record of  3:52.01 was set by Edward Cheserek in 2017. Cooper Teare is now the NCAA mile record holder with 3:50.39.
