Kenny Bednarek Blazes to 200m World Lead with 19.80 in Monteverde

21-year-old Kenny Bednarek produced the highlight at the  Star Athletics Sprint Showcase in Monteverde Academy in Florida on Monday (10).

Bednarek stunned by winning the men's 200m in a new personal best and World leading time of 19.80 seconds. 

Less than 50 minutes before the 200m race, Bednarek took the 3rd place in the 100m final clocking 10.02. Trayvon Bromell won the 100m final in 9.87 beating Justin Gatlin into second place 10.02. The men's 100m final results were achieved with the help of +2.5m/s strong wind.

Sha'Carri Richardson blazed to victory in the women's 100m final clocking 10.83 (W +2.1m/s). In the prelims, Richardson produced a wind-legal (+1.1m/s) 10.95 seconds. After the 100m final, she won the 200m in 22.00 (1.3m/s), the 2nd fastest time this term.
