Michaela Meijer (4.83m) Sets Swedish Pole Vault Record

Michaela Meijer established a new Swedish pole vault record at the Stavhoppstouren del 5 (Pole vault tour #5) meet in Norrköping on Saturday, August 1.

The 27-year-old, Meijer cleared opened the series with 4.43m on her first attempt followed by 4.58m, 4.73m, and 4.83m national record and equalling the 2020 World lead also on her first attempt. She then tried to clear 5.00m but failed on all three attempts.

Angelica Bengtsson who witnessed Meijer breaking her 4.81m national record, set her season's best mark of 4.58m to take second place.

Kuortane Games (World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meeting)

The men's javelin competition was the highlight of the Kuortane Games. Germany's Johannes Vetter threw 86.94m, the 2nd best throw in 2020 in the World,  to beat Sweden's Kim Amb who took second with 85.68m. 

The women's javelin throw was won by Latvia’s Lina Muze who threw 62.75m.  Annimari Korte won the 100m hurdles in 12.88 (W 0.0) from compatriot Finn Nooralotta Neziri (12.96).

Holly Bradshaw of Great Brittain cleared 4.73m to win the women's pole vault.
