World 800m Champion Donovan Brazier to Attempt U.S. 800m Record

World 800m champion Donavan Brazier will attempt to break the U.S. 800 meters record at the "Big Friendly 3" track meet in Portland, Oregon on Friday (31) night. 

Last year, at the Doha World Athletics championships Brazier won the gold medal in a new American record of 1:42.34, breaking 24-year-old (1:42.60) Johnny Gray's record.

On July 3, at the first edition of  "Big Friendly" Brazier made a sensational season debut by clocking a huge 1500m personal best of 3:35.85, and he did it with a storming 52.13 last lap.

Other events to follow at Big Friendly:

Women’s 800m will feature former World indoor champion  Chanelle Price and Brenda Martinez the 2013 World outdoor championships silver medalist.   

The reigning U.S. outdoor champ Craig Engels, Olympian Hassan Mead and Josh Kerr will highlight the men's 1500m race.

The meet also will feature men’s and women’s 3,000 races and a mixed 4x400 relay.
