200m Clermont: Noah Lyles (19.94) defeats Steven Gardiner (19.96)

Noah Lyles and Steven Gardiner dipped under 20 seconds in the 200m dash at the Back to the Track meet in Clermont, Florida on Saturday afternoon.

The World 200m champion Lyles clocked 19.94 seconds to win heat 1.  World 400m champion Steven Gardiner of Bahamas won the 2nd heat 19.96. Lyles' and Gardiner's results are #1 and #2 in the World this year.

In the women's 200m dash, Olympic 400m champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo sizzled 21.98 to became the first women this year to go sub 22 seconds. A day earlier, Miller-Uibo broke 11 seconds for the first time to win the 100m.

Britany Anderson of Jamaica clocked wind-aided 12.71 seconds to lead the preliminary round. Tiffany Porter of Great Brittain with 12.74 finished 2nd. Later in the final, Anderson won the final with a wind-legal 12.82.  Porter took 2nd place in 12.91.

In the men's 110m hurdles prelims, the reigning World champion Grant Holloway made his 2020 outdoor debut clocking 13.35 seconds and beating Devon Allen, the finalist at the Doha World Athletics championships, by 0.01 seconds. In the final race, Holloway cruised 13.46 seconds while Allen skipped the race.
