Yeshaneh Smashes World Record to win Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon

Ethiopia’s Ababel Yeshaneh clocked a new World record at the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) half marathon on Friday.

Yeshaneh broke the tape at 1:04:31 to take 20 seconds off the previous world record held by Joyceline Jepkosgei since 2018. 

“I didn’t imagine this result,” said Yeshaneh, whobroke her persona best time by 1 minute and 15 seconds. “I am a world record holder!”

World marathon record holder Brigid Kosgei of Kenya, who led the first half of the race, finished in second in a new personal bestof 1:04:49.

Rosemary Wanjiru (KEN) clocked 1:05:34 to conclude the podium.
