The reigning World champion Donavan Brazier broke his own American indoor record by winning his first 800m at Millrose Games with a time of 1:44.22. Brazier's new US record is also the 5th fastest time indoors in history.
“When I saw the clock going 1:42, 1:43, I was like, oh, I have a chance,” Brazier said Saturday. “To get it by point-two seconds, there’s really not much room for error there.” Brazier said.

In the women's mile Elle Purrier took a shock victory in a new American record of 4:16.85. Purrier broke Mary Slainy's 37-year-old record by more than 3 seconds. She also became the second fastest women's miler in history. Ethiopia's Genzebe Dibaba holds the women's mile World record of 4:13.31 since 2016 indoor season.
Germany's Konstanze Klosterhalfen broke her own national record with 4:17.26 to take second place, while Jemma Reekie took third place with 4:17.88 Reekie broke Laura Muir's British record of 4:18.75 set in Birmingham in February 2019.
