A high profile marathoner runner El Mahjoub Dazza has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) from sports for doping.
The AIU confirmed on Tuesday that the Moroccan's blood sample had shown anomalies in his Athletes Blood Passport (ABP). The athlete is charged for Use of a Prohibited Substance/Method (Article 2.2) - ABP case.
The fundamental principle of the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) is to monitor selected biological variables over time that indirectly reveal the effects of doping rather than attempting to detect the doping substance or method itself.
El Mahjoub Dazza set a Morrocan national record in the marathon of 2:05:26 at the 2018 Valencia marathon. Last year, he won Prague marathon with 2:05:58 and clocked 2:07:10 to win the Fukuoka marathon.
