• Top Ethiopian Runner Berehanu Tsegu Banned for EPO
African 10000m champion Berehanu Tsegu of Ethiopia, who is currently ranked No. 5 in the World in the men's road race, has been provisionally banned from sports for using doping.
Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Saturday that Tsegu is being investigated after testing positive for EPO, a prohibited blood booster.
Tsegu was 19 in August when he won African 10000m gold in Morocco. In september he took third place placed at the Copenhagen half marathon with a personal best of 59:22. On the track, he holds a personal best in the 10000m of 27:00.73.
