Sydney McLaughlin ( 53.72) Cruises to 400m Hurdles Victory in Marseile

The 19-year-old Sydney McLaughlin (USA) eased to 400m hurdles victory at the European Athletics Classic Meeting in Marseiles, Frances on Tuesday, (2).

In her first race since winning 400m hurdles at Oslo Diamond League on June 13, the 2015 World youth champion, McLaughlin, easily clocked 53.72 seconds to set her new season's best and the second fastest time this year in the World. McLaughlin won by almos two seconds over Jamaican Nikita Tracey, who clocked 55.53.

The next race for McLaughlin will be Diamond League meet in Monaco (Herculis EBS) on 12 July.

In the men's 100 dash final Frenchman Jimmy Vicaut clocked 10.20 for the win against -1.0m/s strong headwind. Earlier in the day in the preliminary round, Vicaut clocked 10.10 seconds against -0.8m/s headwind.

Great Britains Charlie Da'Vall Grice clocked a new meeting record of 3:34.35 to prevail in the men's 1500m.

Solène Ndama of France dominated  the women's 100m hurdles final in12.79 seconds. She missed her personal best by 0.02 seconds.

The 2017 University Games 1500m silver medalist Alexis Miellet of France shaved almost 1 second from his personal best to take a convincing victory in the men's 800m in 1:45.80.
