• Athletes from more than 20 countries will compete in Riga Cup on Tuesday

Javelin thrower Bernhard Seifert (Germany) is going to compete in Riga Cup meeting on June 4th. His season best 89.06m in among the world season best results right behind Andreas Hofmann (89.40m) and Magnus Kirt (89.33m). Riga Cup meeting is a traditional competition held in Latvia every year in the beginning of season. There are 14 disciplines including 6 Cup disciplines.

Cup disciplines:
Men – 400m, triple jump, javelin throw
Women – 200m, long jump, javelin throw
Promo disciplines:
Men – 100m, 200m, 800m, 3000m/st.
Women – 100m, 400m, 800m, high jump

Best Latvian athletes are motivated to achieve high results in front of a home crowd – Latvian record holder in javelin throw Madara Palameika, European U23 champion in 400m – Gunta Vaicule (ex. Latiseva-Cudare), Latvian record holder in 400m Janis Leitis and javelin throwers with personal best over 83m – Rolands Strobinders and Gatis Cakss. Some of the top athletes competing in Riga Cup:


100m and 200m – Krystsina Tsimanouskaya (Belarus) – European U23 Championships 2 nd place 100m (2017)
400m – Małgorzata Hołub-Kowalik (Poland) – European Championships 1 st place (2018) and World Championships 3 rd place 4x400m relay (2017)
High jump – Iryna Herashchenko (Ukraine) – European U23 Championships 2 nd place (2017)
Javelin throw – Liveta Jasiūnaite (Lithuania) – European Championships 3 rd place (2018)
Long jump – Jazmin Sawyers (Great Britain) – European championships 2 nd place (2016)
100m – Jorge Henrique Da Costa Vides (Brazil) – Olympic Games 6 th place 4x100m relay
400m – Karol Zalewski (Poland) – World Indoor Championships 1 st place 4x400m relay (2018)
Javelin throw – Bernhard Seifert (Germany) – European U23 Championships 2 nd place (2013)
Triple jump – Yoann Rapinier (France) – European Championships 4th place (2014) and European Indoor Championships 4th place (2019)
