The 25th edition of the Volkswagen Prague Marathon, the RunCzech
event awarded the IAAF Gold Label, will kick off this Sunday, May 5 at
9:00 CET.
A strong multinational elite field with runners
from Europe, Asia and the U.S. is prepared to attack personal and event
records as they lead over 10,500 runners through the streets of the
historic city.
During the final pre-race press conference today
in the Hilton Prague Hotel much of the discussion revolved around this
race serving as a stepping stone to qualification for the World
Championships in Doha this year and/or 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Lonah
Salpeter of Israel, Kellyn Taylor of the U.S., Amos Kipruto from Kenya,
and Hamid Ben Daoud from Spain along with Jirka Homolac of the Czech
Republic are all hoping this race will bring future as well as immediate
rewards.
The race will be broadcast and streamed live on
ČT Sport from 8:50 CET and worldwide thanks to the broadcasts of the
group Lagardère Sports Media Ltd. Check the list here.
