Brazier Smashes 600m World Best; 16-year-old Athing Mu Sets Amercian Record

Donovan Brazier and Athing Mu produced outstanding performances in the men's and women's 600m finals at the 2019 USA track and field indoor championships in New York on Sunday, February 24.

The 21-year-old Brazier, who two weeks ago set a new American 800m indoor record with 1:44.41, clocked an impressive World indoor best of 1:13.77 to win the US 600m indoor title shaving 1.02 seconds from Michael Saruni World record. Sam Elison took second place in 1:15.20 while Kameron Jones crossed the line in 1:15.32 to take third place.

The 16-year-old Athing Mu shocked everyone by winning the women's 600m final in an American record and World lead of 1:23.57. Prerace favorite Raevyn Rodgers finished in second place in 1:24.88 as Olivia Baker concluded the podium with 1:26.93.
