Dido and Gebreselassie Smash Records in Valencia Marathon

Ethiopian's Leul Gebreselassie and Ashete Dido broke men's and women's Valencia Marathon records on Sunday, 2 December.

Three men broke 2:05 barrier with Gebreselassie winning the race in a new course record time of  2:04:30. Elhassan Elabbassi of Morrocco took second place in a new PB of 2:04:44 while Mathew Kipkoech finished third in 2:04:52.

In the women race, Ashete Dido crossed the line  2:21:14 breaking the women's course record and her own personal best by more than 3 minutes. Kenya's Lydia Cheromei took the second place in  2:22:11 with Tinbit Gidey in third in 2:23:47.
