Yomif Kejelcha Sets 3000m World Lead in Göteborg

21-years-old Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha established a new World lead and the fastest time since Yenew Alamirew's 7:27.26 in Doha in May 2011 in the men's 3000m at 2018 Goteborg Grand Prix on Saturday, August 18.

Kejelcha, the 2016 and 2018 World indoor champion, stormed 54.96 seconds over the bell lap and destroyed the men's 3000m in a new personal best of 7:28.00, a time that puts him in 14th place in history. His compatriot, Berihu Aregawi, came in second in 7:42.12 as Brett Robinson of Austraila finished in third place in 7:51.67.

Elsewhere, in the men's 400m race Rabah Yousif of Great Britain clocked 45.92 for the win. The men's 800m race too local athlete Andreas Kramer in 1:45.27, while the women's 800m race won Anna Sabat of Poland in 2:01.70.

Women's high jump winner Russia's Mariya Lasisteke cleared 1.97m.
