The four time Olympic champion, Farah, in a thrilling sprint finish secured a victory over Kenya's Moses Kipsiro.
Farah crossed the line in 28:27 as Kipsiro was second just one second behind. The podium concluded Abel Kirui 28:52.
Ethiopia's Tirunesh Dibaba took the women's Great Manchester title in 31:08. Kenyans Joyciline Jepkosgei (31:57) and Betsy Saina (32:25) finsihed second and third respectively.
