Dibaba Wins Third Straight World Indoors 3000m Title

Ethiopian track super-star, Genzebe Dibaba, won her third consecutive World Indoor Championships 3000m gold on Thursday night in Birmingham.

Dibaba, who had to world really hard over the last two laps to hold of Siffan Hassan,  Laura Muir and Hellen Obiri, claimed the 3000m gold in 8:45.05. Netherlands World indoor 1500m champion, Hassan, in a dramatic finish calmed silver from Great Britain's Laura Muir in 8:45.68. 

The double European indoor champion Laura Muir with the 3rd place finish won her first World championships medal. 

Meanwhile Kenya's Hellen Obiri, the 5000m champion outdoors, finished in 5th place.

The Ethiopian athletes have won the women's 3000m indoor title eight of the last nine World indoor championships.
