Lavillenie Clears 5.86m and Regains World Lead

Renaud Lavillenie cleared 5.86m in pole vault to regain the top position in World rankings on Sunday, January 14 in Aubiere, France.

French track and field superstar, Lavillenie, opened his 2018 campaign last Thursday with a world leading performance of 5.81m in Tignes, but his top position in global pole vault lists lasted only one day as the 18-year-old Swedish pole vaulting prodigy, Armand Duplantis, set a new U20 junior indoor World record with 5.83m in Reno, Nevada on Friday.

Lavillenie returned to competition again on Sunday night in Aubiere and managed to go over 5.86m to get his World leading position back.

"World leading back! Best global performance. 5m86 this afternoon at home. It's nice!" Lavillenie posted on his Twitter page.
