Johannes Vetter with a massive personal best throw of 89,35m managed to upset reigning Olympic champion and history's 3rd best javelin thrower Thomas Röhler, who took second place at German championships with 85,25m. Bernhard Seifert concluded the podium with a 84,62m.
Konstanze Klosterhalfen broke the 40-year-old German championships reciord in the women's 1500m final. The European Indoor silver medalist, Klosterhalfen, running alone clocked an impressive 3:59.58 to claime German 1500m title. The second place with 4:10.71 took Diana Sujew.
Claudia Salman-Rath claimed the women's long jump contest with 6.72 while Kristin Gierisch won the triple jump with 14.40m.
