The men's long jump final was one of the best in the World indoor championships history. South Africa's Luvo Manyonga took the lead in round 3 with 8.44m (All Africa Indoor Record) from Cuban Juan Miguel Echevarria. But the 19-year-old Echevarria, who had lead the event in the first two rounds, responded with a huge PB and World leading jump of 8.46m. Also in round 5 American Marquis Dendy moved into bronze position with massive PB performance of 8.42m. In the final round Manyonga tried to respond to Echevarria's 8.46m and produced a huge jump over 8.60m mark, but the judge raised the red flag. Echevarria became the youngest Word indoor champion, while Manyonga and Dendy settled in 2nd and 3rd.
