Lagat is not done yet; will race road mile in Newcastle this weekend

The 41-year-old Bernard Lagat of the United States, who ran his last race on the track on Saturday in Berlin, will return to action this weekend to race a road mile race. 

The 2007 world champion over 1500m and 5000m is traveling to Newcastle, Great Britain to take on road mile race at the annual Great North Citygames on Saturday, September 10. 

“I’m feeling in good shape and looking forward to competing in England,” said Lagat, who placed in 5th place in 5000m at the Rio Olympics. 

Alongside Lagat, there will be Kenya's Silas Kiplagat who took silver medal in 1500m at the 2011 world  championships in Daegu. 

Meanwhile women's mile will be led by British record holder and world season leader in the 1500m Laura Muir.
