Tamberi and Fassinotti clear 2.35m

Italian high jumpers Gianmarco Tamberi and Marco Fassinotti set a new Italian indoor record and world leading mark at the International high jump meet in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia on Thursday night.

Both Marco Fassinotti and Gianmarco Tamberi are now sharing Italian indoor record after they both cleared 2.35m. The event winner was less experienced Tamberi who beat Fassinotti on a count back.  At the Beijing world championships the23-year-old Tamberi was 8th while the 26-year-old Fassinotti took 6th place. 

Third place in the event took the 2007 world high jump champion Donald Thomas of Bahamas with his season's best mark of 2.33m.
