Powell dominates 100m, Williams runs 22.32 in 200m and beats Campbell-Brown in Luzern

Jamaican sprint star Asafa Powell clocked his 6th sub 10 second 100m this season beating high quality field at European athletics classic meeting in Luzern.

 

Powell posted 9.87 seconds defeating compatriots Nesta Carter 10.06  and Bailey-Cole Kemar 10.10. Other Jamiacan star Yohan Blake was scheduled to compete but did not run. Watch Video>>

In the women's 200m American Charonda Williams managed to upset Jamaican superstar Veronica Campbell-Brown. Williams crossed the line in a new season's best time of 22.32, while Campbell-Brown clocked 22.61 seconds for second place.  Watch Video>>

Lopez Lomong  won the men's 3000m in 7:42.19 narrowly beating 40-year-old running legend Bernard Lagat, who clocked 7:42.75 setting a new world masters record. Watch Video>>

Former world champion USA's Jason Richardson won the men's 110 hurdles in 13.25, while Bahamas' Jeffery Gibson produced very fast time in 400m hurdles of
48.77 for the win.

Swiss mid-distance star Selina Büchel, the European indoor champion, beat world indoor champion, Chanelle Price of USA, in the 800m race. Büchel finished after 1:59.21 just 0.03 seconds ahead of Price. Three more runners went under 2 minutes as Melissa Bishop of Canada clocked 1:59.52 for third , Great Britain's  Lynsey Sharp was fourth with a time of 1:59.72 and  Molly Ludlow of USA in fifth 1:59.73.
