American sprinter, Justin Gatlin, was in the spotlight at Golden Gala Rome Diamond League meet on Thursday as he beat Usain Bolt's track record in the 100m.

The 2004 Olympic champion, Gatlin, ran an impressive 9.75 seconds bettering Bolt's record from 2012 by only 0.01 seconds.

French sprinter, Jimmy Vicaut, who was second miles behind Gatlin, recorded season's best time in Europe of 9.98 seconds.

"I just come out and just want to run. Good or bad, whatever is written about me, positive or negative, I wake up, get to the track and get ready to run." said Gatlin after the race.
