Johnson-Thompson Scores 5000m to Win Women's Pentathlon With a new British Record

 Great Britain's Katarina Johnson-Thomson won the gold medal in the women's pentathlon competition at the European Indoor championships in Prague on Friday night.


The 22-year-old Johnson-Thomson won the pentathlon with a new British pentathlon and a new championships record of 5000 points. Second place in the event took the 20-year-old  Nafissatou Thiam  of Belgium,  who scored 4696 points, while podium concluded Eliska Klucinova with a new Czech national record of 4687 points.

In the men's shot put final Germany's world champion David Storl upgraded his 2013 European silver medal to a gold. Storl tossed 21.23m to defeat defending European indoor champion Serbia's Asimir Kolasinac (20.90m) and previous European indoor championships bronze medalist Czech Republic's Ladislav Prasil 20.66m.
