American team of Matthew Centrowitz, Mike Berry , Erik Sowinski and Pat Casey ran an phenomenal 9:19.93 to smash the previous world record of 9:25.97, set by the University of Texas back in 2008.
The American team was led by World 1500m silver medalist Centrowitz, who ran his leg of 1200m in 2;49:47. in the second leg Berry took down 400m in 46.40, while Sowinsky ran the 800m leg in 1:47:48. Pat Casey ran final leg of one mile in 3:56.48.
Team Ireland came in second place with a time of 9:25.37 while NJ-NY TC team was third 9:27.16.
The 2nd edition of World Relays championships will take place in Nassau, Bahamas on May 5-6. This year the IAAF have included the distance medley relay in the world relays championships schedule.
