Kipsang and Keitany Win NYC Marathon

 Wilson Kipsang surged away from  Lelisa Desisa in the final half mile to win the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 2.


The former marathon world recod holder, Kipsand, won the New York City marathon in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, 55 seconds beating Ethiopia's Lelisa Desisa who crossed  the line few seconds behind trhe Kenyan.

The fastest American in the race was Meb Keflewhzighi, the 2013 Boston marathon winner, taking fourth place ahead of two time New York marathon winner Geoffrey Mutai who took 6th.

The women's race won Kenyan Mary Keitany who overtook her country man Jemima Sumgong to win the NYC Marathon for the first time.

Keitany won the race in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 25 minutes, 7 seconds. Portugal's Sara Moreira was third in her marathon debut.
