8 Men Goes Sub 60min in RAK HM

The 2014 RAK half marathon saw a record number of eight  men to run the 21.1km rpad race under 1 hour with the world championships silver medalist,  Lelisa Desisa (ETH), winning the race in 59:36 minutes.

Eritrea's Nguse Tesfaldet in a thrilling finish took second just 3 seconds behind the winner and with 4 Kenyans, Wilson Kiprop 59:45, Bernard Koech 59:46, Bernard Kipyego 59:47 and Micah Kogo 59:49 behind the leaders. The final two men to break the magic 60 min barrier were Feyisa Lilesa (ETH) 59:51 and Kenya's Paul Lonyangata 59:54.

In the women's race, the London Olympics marathon silver medalist, Rita Jeptoo of Kenya, took a very solid win in 67:02 min more then a minute ahead of the second place finisher Filomeya Cheyech (KEN) 68:13.  Ethiopia's Guteni Shone secured in final final strides her third place  in 68:31 just 5 seconds ahead of Helah Kiprop (KEN) who took 4th.
