IAAF Reinstates Alpetikin´s Doping Ban

Asli Cakir Alptekin of Turkey,  who took a surprise win in the women´s 1500m at the 2012 London Olympics, again have received a provisional ban for doping by the IAAF.

Alpetkin received a provisional ban in  April of 2013 after there was found anomalies in her biological passport in the blood samples taken in 2012.

Two months later the IAAF moved the case toTurkish Athletics Federation but the Turkish athletics governing body where she was cleared Alpetkin from all charges stating that the athlete was clean.

Now the IAAF lifted the case again by appealingit in the Court of Arbitration for Sport and if found guilty Alpetkin will face a life time ban since she had alreadyserved a 2 year ban back in 2004.

: "The IAAF has decided to reinstate Ms Alptekin's provisional suspension."

As a result Alptekin "is ineligible to take part in any competition in Turkey or overseas until the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) delivers the final decision,"  confirmed to AFP new the IAAF spokesman Nick Davies.
