With Moscow World Championships aproaching Russian athletics federation authorities have been forced to strenghten their fight against doping. In the past 12 months more than 20 elite Russian athletes have been cought using prohibited substances.

Russian Athleics president Valentin Balakhnichyov expects more doping cases to be involving Russian athletes in the near future since the country´s anti doping agency conducted more drug tests since last year.

In 2013, Russian Anti - Doping Agency (RUSADA)  conduceted 3500 tests and this year (RUSADA)  are planning to do more than 4000 tests in and out of the competitions.

"Don't be surprised if you hear about a few more suspensions coming our way," told the Russian athletic president to Reuters.

"It's simple arithmetic - the more you test, the more people are likely be caught," he added.

"We also do more advanced testing, not only urine, but blood testing as well so those numbers don't surprise me at all. On the contrary - I expect more of them in the future." he concluded
