• Three Russian Athletes Recieve 2-year Doping Ban
Three female athletes from Russia have recieved 2-year-doping ban. Two athletes Svetlana Kirelyova and Olga Kuzenkova were found usingdoping after their their samples were re-examined.
The 42-year-old Kuzenkova, 2004 Olympic gold medallist in the women's hammer, tested positive at the 2005 world championships in Helsinki, where she also won gold.
"Kuzenkova has been banned for two years starting from March 27, 2013," was posted on Russian Federation website.
Krivelyova, who is now 43-years old, won the women's shot put at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and at the 2003 world championships in Paris. Athletes re-examined drug test samples from the 2004 Athens Games showed prohibited substance in her system.
Both Kirelyova and Kuzenkova have retired from the sport for several years.
Yelena Churakova is the third Russain athlete that recieved 2-year ban this week. The 26-year-old 400m hurdler tested positive for anabolic steroids during the training camp in January in Portugal.
Churakova competed at the London Olympics reaching the semi-finals in the 400m hurdles.
