• London 1500m Gold Medallist Tests Positive
Accoarding to Chinese News Agency Xinhua, The London Olympics 1500m gold medallist Asli Cakir Alptekin is one of the 8 atheletes that have been tested positive for the use of banned substances. The statement was made by the WADA and was published on Friday by the local media.
The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has now passed the issue to the Turkish Athletics Federation, calling on the authorities to punish the athlete.
Cakir Alptekin, the 1,500-meter gold medallist in the 2012 London Olympic Games, will face a lifetime ban if she is found guilty for using banned drugs.
Alptekin has fased already 2-year ban from 2004 for the use of illegal suplementation.
WADA last week announced that there are 17 cases in the sport of track and field that IAAF is investigating under the biological passport program.
