• Otto Clears 5.85m to Win Meeting in Dessau

German pole vaulter Bjorn Otto took a victory at the International Springer Meeting in Dessau on Wedensday, February 6. The 35-year-old London Olympics silver medalist managed 5.85m to celebrate his 8th victory this season. In 2013 indoor season the athlete has been defeated only twice, first in Karlsruhe on February 2 and last weekend at the European Indoor cahmpionships in Goteborg. Both times Otto was defeated by Franchman Renaud Lavillenie. 

The second place with 5.80m vault took Greeks Konstadinos Filippidis. Last week at the European Indoor Championships Filipidis in a thriller competition finished just outside of the medal podium in 4th place. 

The podium in Dessasu concluded German pole vaulter Hendrik Gruber with a mark of 5.60m.

In the women's high jump competition, the winner, Mirela Demireva cleared 1.90m. Two Polish athletes, Jana Stepaniuk and Justyna Kasprzycka jumping also 1.90m, finished second and third respectively.
