• Whiting, Silva and Otto Win Pedro's Cup
World Season leader in shot put Ryan Whiting (USA) had the farthest throw in tonights competiton. The first attempt for Whiting was not succesfull, but in the second try he managed 20.80m to take the leade. Whiting failed his third attempt, while his compatriot Martin Corey achieved personal best 20.90m and a new lead in the competition. Finally, in his 5th attempt, Whiting showed that there was more left in his tank by taking the leade with a toss of 21.38m. In the final round nobody endangered his position anymore. Martin Corey secured his second position with his personal best throw in his carrer of 20.90m while German Veteran Ralf Bartel with 19.63m finished in third.
In the pole vault competition Yarisley Silva (CUB), # 2 in the wolrd, with a jump of 4.60m defeated world season leader Holly Bleasdale of Great Brittain, who managed 4.50m. Silva started the competition with a winning hight of 4.60m which she cleared with the first attempt. The next hight of 4.70m she failed in all three attempts.
In the mens competition Germans Pole Vault star Bjorn Otto was the best among the men. Otto cleared 5.70m while second place finisher Aljaji Jeng of Sweeden managed 5.60m. London Olympic finalist Steven Lewis of Great Brittain managed to jump 5.50m.
