• Six Track and Field Athletes Nominated for 2013 Laureus World Sports Awards

Laureus World Sports Awards what is considered the most prestigious sporting awards on Earth will take place next year on March 11. The 2013 nominees were revealed in Rio de Janeiro which is also the place where the final ceremony will take place.
This year six athletes from the sport of track and field were nominated for the biggest sporting award. Usain Bolt, Mo Farah, are the male track and field nominees for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Award . Their opponents are Michael Phelps the American swimmer, Lionel Messis the Argenitinian Football player and Formula One driver Sebastian Vettel from Germany.
Kirani James who is nominated for the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year category will be accompanied by Great Brittains tennis player Andy Murray, swimmer Yannick Agnel (FRA), gymnast Gabby Douglas (USA), and Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen.
From the womens side they are, sprinters Allyson Felix (USA) and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (JAM), and heptathlete Jessica Ennis (GBR). They will be challenged by swimmer Missy Franklin, skier Missy Franklin, and Serena Williams all from the United States.
The 2013 nominees were revealed in Rio de Janeiro which is also the place where the final ceremony will take place.
