• Mosop 85 Percent Ready for NYC Marathon
Due to the same injury that kept Moses Mosop out of the 2012 Olympic Games, he’s coming into the ING New York City Marathon at 85 percent.
Mosop has been suffering from injury to his left Achiles tendon since last year.
This injury Mosop said has forced him to hold his training for two months and has narrowed his training for this race to only 2.5 months. He said he would prefer another two weeks of preparation coming into this race.
“In my mind, things are going very well. My legs are giving me a problem.”
“I will go out with the guys and then we will see where we are around the 25K [mark],” he said. He doubts that the hilly New York course will pose any special challenge, saying, “I was born in the mountains and that’s where I learned to run.”
This year in April Mosop finished third in ABN Amro Rotterdam Marathon clocking 2:05:03. Mosop holds a 2:03:06 personal best, set at the 2011 Boston Marathon. His record is not official for record purposes, it is the second-fastest marathon ever run.
Mosop added that in his carreer he wants to break the wolrd record.
ING New York City Marathon is scheduled to start on Sunday, October 4 at 10:00 am EDT.
