Grenada's 19-year-old Olympic 400m champion Kirani James of Grenada has decided to conclude his season and return to classes at University of Alabama. Kirani James won last two diamond league meetings in Stockholm and in Lausanne. He was the favorite for diamond trophy in DL series in 400m race.
“After discussions with my coach and manager, I have decided to conclude the season and return to classes at the University of Alabama,” James said to media on Friday
“I am looking forward to returning to Grenada at some stage to share my Gold Medal ceremony with all of Grenada.”
Jame's manager enaldo Nehemiah added: “He just feels he has accomplished his goals – winning gold medal and securing the number one ranking,” said his manager Renaldo Nehemiah.
He said that winning the Diamond League is not a priority. “We never make decisions based on money. It’s always what Kirani wants. My job is to ensure the peace in his now chaotic world,” he said.
For Kirani James mane goal this season was wining Olympics. Now after he has achieved it, he can focus on studies and preparation for next season.
