The 38-year-old Paula Radcliffe, who still holds women's marathon world record , has suffered a foot injury and
has made a decision to withdraw from the women's marathon race in London Olympic games.

She has won world title but never won a medal in any of the three Olympic games that she has competed in her career.

Runner has been suffering with a degenerative joint problem since the end of June, but had hoped it would recover in time for the Olympic Marathon next Sunday.

Radcliffe added in an interview to bbc.co.uk: "However hard today is, finally closing the door on that [Olympic] dream, at least I can know that I truly have tried absolutely everything"
Freya Murray from Scotland will replace Radcliffe in the event. The 28-year-old athlete admitted that she was staying fit and healthy since she was a reserve athlete for the women's marathon team.
