American pole vaulter, Sandi Morris, cleared a new World leading mark of 4.95m and then attempted a new World record at Liberty Bridge Jump-off in Greensville last Friday.

The 2018 World Indoor Champion, Morris, cleared 4.45m, 4.55m, 4.65m, and 4.75m with first-attempt. The next height of 4.85m Morris cleared with only 3rd attempt while the World leading 4.95m she took with the 2nd try. Morris then asked the meet officials to raise the bar to a new World record height of 5.07m. After failing on her first two attempts she then produced a very decent jump but not enough to set the World record. Sandi Morris holds a personal best of 5.00m from two years ago in Bruxelles.
